Scrapbooking Style What Is Yours
Two people can choose the same elements and photos to create a page with, but the final page created will always be different. Just like a fingerprints, no two pages would be exactly the same. As you scrapbook more and more pages, your personal style will develop. There are so many things to think about when you create a scrapbooking page. You have to consider how you use color, your font styles, your paper and placement of embellishments. These are a few ways that help create your personal scrapbooking style. As your experience with scrapbooking increases, your approach begins to change. Try this, look at the pages you created years ago and look a the page you created recently. What changes do you see? As you have been learning new techniques or experimenting with new products, your style has probably changed. Your albums also reflect your personality, and each page shows approach to this craft. There are so many different ways to scrapbook, and there is no one way that is correct. We each experience the creative process of designing a page layout in our own way. Styles of scrapbooking can be defined in different ways. When looking through a scrapbooking magazine, you can see many different styles. Some pages are simple, and others are complex. Each page sets a different mood. Here are a few scrapbooking styles.
TraditionalThese pages are usually clean and simple with nothing really fancy. The embellishments are not used very much, and the photos are cropped into standard square or rectangle shapes. Sometimes, they are not cropped at all. The pages are sophisticated and classic.
ModernThese pages use lots of contrasting colors with bold patterns and strong accents. The page elements usually have hard lines and geometric shapes. There will also be few fancy or decorative page accents.
RomanticThis style can be considered vintage or shabby chic. A lot of patterned paper is used and techniques are used to soften the page. The colors usually are pastels, and often floral patterns. Handwriting, script or ornate fonts are used for journaling.
WhimsicalThis style uses the newest techniques and mediums. Bold colors are used in unique combinations along with playful patterns. Instead of using fancy accents, you might see paper dolls, cartoon shapes and 3D elements.
ConservativeThis style uses a lot of earth tones. The user texture and monochromatic color are common. Pages will often have fibers and torn paper edges. Which style do you see in your pages? More people shift between and overlap styles at times. Sometimes it may just be a result of the theme we are working with or our mood on any particular day. But most of us will lean toward one style more often than any of the others. When working on your next page layout, try to apply a new style to your page. As always, have fun with the creative process and let your personality show in every page you make.
